STADA subsidiary supports victims of Balkan flood

Serbian STADA subsidiary Hemofarm donates goods valued at Euro 380,000 for quick aid in the flooded areas of Serbia and Bosnia


Bad Vilbel, May 20, 2014 –

As a result of the most severe rainfall in more than 120 years, which has lead to drastic flooding in large parts of Serbia and Bosnia, STADA's Serbian subsidiary Hemofarm has sent relief supplies valued at Euro 380,000 to the affected areas. In addition, the company's plant fire brigade and numerous Hemofarm employees have offered their services to assist in disaster control.

“We have already provided aid for many national and international catastrophes, whether in the form of monetary donations or relief supplies such as medicines. As a globally active health company that has committed itself to people's well being, it is a matter of course for us”, says Hartmut Retzlaff, Chairman of the Executive Board of STADA Arzneimittel AG. The government of Serbia has declared the situation to be the worst natural disaster ever to hit the country and has requested international help. Bosnian authorities have also expressed the need for help. “We are happy to answer this call for help and hope that our donations will help improve the situation for the affected people in need”, adds Retzlaff.

The Serbien government has expressed its gratitude for the quick help offered by Hemofarm – the market leader in Serbia's health care market. Both sides continue to cooperate closely with regard to the next steps.
