STADA plans to hand German logistics business over to a globally active and well-known logistics company

Bad Vilbel, October 10, 2014

STADA Arzneimittel AG plans to hand its German logistics activities over to a globally active and well-known logistics company. It is planned for all STADA logistics activities at the Florstadt and Bad Vilbel locations to be transferred to a service provider in the first quarter of 2015. It does not include the sale of infrastructure. In the context of the planned operational transfer, all affected STADA employees shall be transferred to the new employer.

Outsourcing STADA’s logistics would allow for the avoidance of substantial future investments. Back in August, STADA decided that only one subsidiary, ALIUD PHARMA, would participate in tender business. “Against the backdrop of increasing cost pressure in Germany and STADApharm's corresponding withdrawal from tender business, our need for logistics services has changed to the point where it is no longer attractive for us to carry out our own logistics activities in Germany. As opposed to us, a logistics company can compensate for fluctuation with third-party business”, says Dr. Matthias Wiedenfels, STADA's Executive Board member responsible for business development and central services.
Approximately 160 employees currently work at STADA's two distribution and service centers in Florstadt and Bad Vilbel.

With the new employer, it would be possible to keep the Florstadt location over the long term and even expand it.
